SEXUAL MISCONDUCT:I Did Not Rape or Solicit for Sex With Prostitutes in US - House of Reps Member, Ikon Cries Foul

A lawmaker who has been implicated in the widely circulated r*pe scandal story, has spoken out about his innocence. 

Hon Samuel Ikon, one of the three House of Representatives members, who were indicted in an  attempted rape and sex scandal during a leadership training in Cleveland, Ohio, United States, has denied any s*xual miscount
 

Ikon was denying the allegation by the United States Ambassador, James Entwist who accused three House of Representatives members of sexual miscount.

He threatened, yesterday,  to sue the ambassador and the U.S. government for “character defamation and a calculated attempt to ridicule the National Assembly.”

Speaking in Abuja, Ikon said, “My attention has been drawn to the publication alleging an act of impropriety against me by the U.S. mission in Nigeria. I wish to state unequivocally that this is false and definitely not me.

                                     

“This to me, is a case of mistaken identity and I have already instituted measures both legally and diplomatically to clear my name and the institution I represent. I call for patience and God’s abiding wisdom at this time.”

Entwist had last week wrote to the House of Representatives Speaker Yakubu Dogara, accusing some members of attempted rape and soliciting for prostitutes during their official trip to the U.S
.

Entwist, in the letter dated June 9 identified three members of the House namely, Hon. Mohammed Garba Gololo (APC, Bauchi); Hon. Samuel Ikon (PDP, Akwa Ibom) and Hon. Mark Gbillah (APC, Benue) of sexual complexity during their trip

He alleged that the three members solicited for s*x from prostitutes, adding that Hon. Gololo grabbed a hotel housekeeper while requesting for sex.

However, the spokesman of the House of Representatives, Hon Abdulrazak Namdas confirmed to reporters yesterday that the House has commenced investigation into the alleged s*xual miscount leveled against its members.

“Ten members went to Ohio in USA on a leadership programme and returned successfully. We recently received a letter from the U.S. ambassador that there was misconduct by some of the members on the trip.

“While we investigate the matter, it remains an allegation,” he said.
